Performance Art Venues

Performing arts are held round the year in various types of venues. There are various different types of venues in which the performing art shows are staged. Few of the conventional venues include:

Street Theaters include various theatrical and performing arts performances which are held at public places, usually outdoors which includes car parks, shopping centers and parks, where there is a presence of a large number of people. These types of plays can be usually found in street festivals, parades and children shows. The street theater does not require sophisticated instruments and are played with simple costumes and props with very little sound amplification. The vocal and physical abilities of performers are utilized. Slapstick, drama, circus performances, street plays, standup comedy and mime arts are popular genres performed on street theaters.

Amphitheaters are large open air venues for performances having a large performance space in the center surrounded by seating arrangements which are ascending in nature to accommodate large number of people. Concerts and other musical, dance events along with other circus arts and performances are commonly held in these venues.

Playhouses or theaters are enclosed venues for the performance of theatrical works, plays, musical concerts, opera and magic arts with proper acoustic and lighting arrangements and comfortable seating arrangements for the audience.

Fringe theaters or off-Broadway theaters are small scale theaters with limited seating and have sparse technical arrangements suitable for casts smaller than that of mainstream theaters. One-man performances are quite common in these venues.
